Sara Tolaney, MD, MPH, is Chief of the Division of Breast Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, and Associate Director of the Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers, Boston, MA. She also holds the position of Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. Dr Tolaney earned her medical degree from the University of California, CA. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at John Hopkins University, followed by fellowships in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In 2007, she received a Master of Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA.
Dr Tolaney specializes in developing novel breast cancer therapies, aiming to create more effective and less toxic treatment approaches. Her work has led to the incorporation of new treatment strategies into national and international guidelines. She has contributed significantly to the development of CDK 4/6 inhibitors, antibody-drug conjugates, and immunotherapies. Dr Tolaney has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications, solidifying her impact in the field.
